What is siatica
Sciatica pain is often associated with morning stiffness in the back often lasting an hour or so. No Allopathic medical treatment can prevent the evolution of this disease. Sciatica pain is typically felt from the low back to behind the thigh and radiating down below the knee. The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body and begins from nerve roots in the lumbar spinal cord in the low back and extends through the buttock area to send nerve endings down the lower limb. Sciatica pain is excruciating and severe conditions can lead to partial or complete disability. Long term treatment for sciatica requires sciatic nerve treatments that may include surgery.
Sciatica pain is most often described by patients as sharp shocking pain starting at the buttocks and traveling along the back of the thigh and down the leg. Sciatica is most often caused by a herniated disc, although there are a few other causes that may produce this pain. Sciatica pain is often the result of nerve compression in the spinal cord associated with a herniated lumbar disc. Generally this type of low back injury also will be accompanied by neurological deficits that are absent with piriformis syndrome. Sciatica pain is a symptom of a disease and not an ailment in its own right. Whether it is chronic, mild or episodic the primary objective of acupressure is to relieve pain before determining the underlying cause.
Stretching your lower back and hamstrings regularly (being morning and night) and preferably after you have warmed up, helps you get a better stretch. Focus on stretches that hold a stretch for 20-30 secoonds rather than bouncing. Stretching exercises for sciatica target muscles that cause pain when they are tight and inflexible. When patients engage in a regular program of gentle strengthening and stretching exercises, they can recover more quickly from a flare up of sciatica and can help to prevent future episodes of pain. Stretching is important to maintain the flexibility and decrease the tightness in your paravertebral muscles which help maintain your spine erect. The psoas muscles are deep in your abdomen in the front of your spine and also can become tight and need good stretching.
Treatment experimentation is the key to phn pain relief. Treatments are rarely performed on the local injury this method allows clients to move the effected joint during treatment. Treatment for sciatica is aimed at helping to manage the pain without long-term use of medications. At least a few days of bed rest is needed for the inflammation to go away.
